OMD Software
Although it may not be exactly a household name to the average computer user, OMD software is well known to business data processing professionals.
OMD Software
OMD is a Corporation located in Jefferson City, Missouri. They are known as industry leaders in the development of integrated business systems. Their products are window based systems that feature over 1500 different business applications. They have been producing their line of software solutions since 1984. The Company was founded in 1977 as a division of Modern Business Systems. After 22 years of independent operation, they were acquired by ECI Corporation in 2006.
OMD software is installed in over 3000 business locations. Major customers of OMD include dealers and distribution businesses of fax machines and copiers, mailing equipment, and banking equipment. They also cater to businesses that deal in computers and networking supplies. Their systems are ideal for point-of-sale systems dealers and office supply dealers.
OMD’s core product is called Vision. It is a fully integrated, windows based, point and click system that provides the 1500 business applications that range from extensive inventory control systems to dispatch and management modules. OMD software is so ideal for its target customer base that they have given guarantees of profit to their customers if the OMD software is used correctly for a certain period of time. OMD has customers around the globe and it is estimated that 90% of the most highly rated distribution companies in the World use OMD software.
This past summer, Ricoh Americas Corporation, which is the leading supplier of digital office equipment announced that one of their main systems for information gathering and remote meter reading was now compatible with OMD Vision software. The Ricoh program which is called “Remote” can gather information from remote meters automatically and feed it into Vision tracking software without any manual input necessary.
The concept of fully integrated software designed for OMD’s targeted customer base has led several major competitors to attempt to market competing software. Even Microsoft Corporation introduced a system intended for a similar market, but they could not match the ease of operation or the comprehensive nature of OMD software. The idea of fully integrated point and click software is to tie together all the various business needs into a single operating system. Information gathered at one source is transferred directly to another department as needed. For example, a sale when entered into the system automatically generates a response in inventory control and accounting. OMD software is a definite leader in its chosen market place.
